Most people think the new year starts on 1 January. In life numerology, each personal year runs from 1 October to 30 September of the following year.
So from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, you are in your 2027 personal year. If you check your year after October, you are already looking at the new number — your new year has quietly begun.
Where your personal year comes from
It uses your birth day and month together with the year in question, added up the same way as your chart, to give a number from 1 to 9. Everyone's number is different, and it moves one step a year — 1, 2, 3 … 9 — in a nine-year cycle.
The nine personal years
- Year 1: Year of New Beginnings & Timing
- Year 2: Year of Communication & Course Correction
- Year 3: Year of Caution & Grounded Action
- Year 4: Year of Learning & Building Foundations
- Year 5: Year of Direction & Pivotal Choices
- Year 6: Year of Wealth & Wisdom Harvest
- Year 7: Year of Connections & Opportunity
- Year 8: Year of Achievement & Intense Pressure
- Year 9: Year of Completion & Recognition
Year 1 opens a new cycle — the choices you make in it shape the next nine years. Year 9 is harvest and completion: a time to finish well and clear space for what comes next.
Making the most of your year
- Know your number first, then decide what the year is for: starting, partnering, holding steady, learning, changing course or harvesting
- Put big decisions where they fit in the year
- Each month has its own monthly cycle and each day a daily cycle, so you can break the year's direction down to today
